With the Global Financial Crisis in 2008, I decided to broaden my "Currency" series to include global monies.

In early autumn of 2008, the near collapse of our country's financial institutions brought the world's economies into crisis creating a deep chill in global credit and exchange markets as well as in economic conditions as a whole. A selection of altered currency pieces were "chilled" in the glass and steel refrigeration cases of a vacant and defunct flower shop in New York's Financial District. Displayed together with replicas of important historical economic documents for the Habeas Lounge Economic Forum (a public art project curated by Linda Pollack and devoted to the U.S. Constitution and democracy, which coincided with the 99% protests).

A separate series of "Shadow Currency" was also developed around this time.
